Hello there,

Advent is finally here, the most magical season of all, and a season of peace.

Since peace is in such short supply nowadays, I wanted to give you something to take with you.

This free e-book is a compilation of some peace quotes that can make us think about how we can contribute to the work of peace in the world.

Hope you enjoy it!

Precious Peace

"There will be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars,
and on earth nations will be in dismay,
perplexed by the roaring of the sea and the waves.
People will die of fright
in anticipation of what is coming upon the world,
for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.
And then they will see the Son of Man
coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
But when these signs begin to happen,
stand erect and raise your heads
because your redemption is at hand."
- Luke 21

In this chapter, Jesus warns the Jews of difficult times ahead.  He tells them that there will be great trouble and distress, that they'll be hemmed in from all sides - and that all they can do is to flee.  Yet He also says that this is the time to "stand erect and raise your heads".

Much like today's news, many Christians around the world - in the Middle East in particular, are being persecuted. It's dangerous to be a Christian in certain parts in the world.  The other parts of the world are increasing in secularism and relativism rapidly.  God is oftentimes shoved into the backdrop and summoned only as a last resort.

People put the blame on religion all too easily ans say that more death and destruction are wrought by war than any other cause.  They want to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Christianity is unlike all religions in as it teaches us to love our enemies and the God whom we serve wants to be our friend and our Father.  It is the only religion where a God loved the world so much that He died to save it.  It's not religion, it's a relationship.

I suggest that the real harm is to say you are a Christian and not to live like one.  If being a Christian is so bad then what would you make of Mother Teresa who prayed four hours a day then tended to the poorest of the poor?  If being a Christian is so bad then what would you think of Corrie Ten Boom who saved so many Jews from the holocaust, then forgave her oppressor?  If Christianity is so bad then what would you say of Maximiliian Kolbe who traded his life to save another under Nazi Germany?  There are countless others examples -  one or more for every day of the year - to accuse of being a Christian.

Stand erect. Be who you are in today's world.  Stand amid the rising tide and don't get swept away by values that tell you something other than what Jesus said.

Raise your heads.  Look up to Christ who loved those who crucified Him and who is King over sun and moon and rain and frost and chill.

Be who you say you are ... a Christian... and you will do a world of good.

God's amazing grace gets us through anything in this life.  Sorrow, sickness, sin, fear, apathy and even death.  Feeling lonely?  He is enough!  Feeling inadequate?  He is enough!  Feeling discouraged?  He is enough!  God is enough!  In fact He is even more than enough!

Have you ever stood out in a crowd?  Picture yourself as a commoner waiting for hours for the king to come out of his palace.  You finally catch a glimpse of his shiny crown and crane your neck to see more.

Then suddenly he looks directly at you!  He seems to see your soul and smiles from a distance and points you out to his royal courtiers.

This is somewhat what happened in ancient Israel.  Someone seemingly unimportant and unnoticeable among the synagogue's wealthy, held Jesus' eye.

"Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” Mark 12:41-44

The widow who was one of society's most poorest and most pitiable gave the most.  She didn't give the most money but she gave all she had to live on.

I usually come across this passage when the Lord is asking me to accept more responsibility for a new role I need to take on such as when I was asked to serve the poor or when I was asked to become a pastoral leader (and other such terrifying things!)

Fear must have gripped the widow as she considered giving her last coins.  How will she live?  What about the future?  But then she must have received much from God that her gratitude superceded her fear.

I can relate.  God has been so good to me that it would seem ridiculous to withhold anything from Him.  He who has nor withheld any good thing from us, even His only Son!

God usually asked something of us that we don't have much of.  God is rich in all things, except for one thing.  He only had one Son.  But that is what He gave us, the most dearest to Him.  So it is only a fitting thing to give God not from our surplus but coming from a place of lack to show Him how thankful we are for all the goodness He has shown us!

Today I realized that some people are feeling the pinch of being different but don’t think you’re the only one. Everyone is. You’re not alone! Someone up there is looking out for you! #hope #youcan #inspiration

Whatever you are facing right now or whatever is haunting you from the past, know that you can overcome it and you have everything you need right now to be the best you can be and what God has made you to be!

... If you believe!

Here’s to all of you brave souls out there! #kudos
